It's been one of those days today. You know the kind - you try your darndest to get loads of work done, but it seems the harder you try, the less you seem to get accomplished. I'm certain that I left work today with a bigger To Do list than I came in with today. Oh well, such is life. LOL
I wasn't feeling particularly creative or inspired today, so struggled to come up with a photo. This was the result of some head-scratching; I wanted to create an image with a feeling of depth, but this one somehow leaves me cold. There's always tomorrow and it's photo I suppose!

August 27 ~ Hopper
Bit of a backyard safari again today; spent much of the morning gardening so didn't get out and about as I would have liked. I was happy, however, to get a photo of one of the hoppers that have been chirping in our garden in recent days. This is the first time I've managed to get close enough with the camera for any kind of image, so I'm pretty pleased.
August 26 ~ Watchful
This is one of the friendly neighbourhood cats. He often sleeps on the roof of our shed, as it gets lovely and warm in the sun. He's not an ordinary cat, however; he doesn't bother the birds at all. He sits and sleeps while they visit the feeders in the garden. He does like chasing (and eating!) grasshoppers though. Told you he was strange! I tried to capture a shot of him chasing them, but all he wanted to do once he spotted me was pose.
I never did get out for sunrise. I woke up at 3:30am as planned and started to get ready, then realized I was far too exhausted to want to risk a 2 hour round trip alone in the car. I figured it wasn't as if it was the only time I could see the sunrise there coincide with low tide, so I went back to bed for some obviously much-needed sleep. The next weekend where the sunrise coincides with low tide there is the 8th and 9th of September, so the plan is to drive up there one morning that weekend instead.

August 25 ~ Zen-Like
Quiet day today, just enjoying the start of the long weekend here. Lovely to have sunshine, although the breeze was brisk. The day started at 3am for me, when my hayfever woke me. Unable to get back to sleep, I figured I would pack up the camera gear and head out in the hope of some sunrise shots. The sky was so disappointing that I never got the cameras out of the bag.
I took today's photo indoors today, as the wind meant I couldn't get decent shots of flowers outdoors. I am hoping to get out for sunrise tomorrow though - low tide coincides with sunrise, and therefore the causeway out to Holy Island will be open. I haven't been there since early March, so might be a nice time out.
Blogging For Rose
ROSE EMMA McGILL
26th January 1984 – 11th November 2006
Today Rose’s Father, Andrew, and his best friend, Natalya, are setting off on a 3 day, 1,000 mile fundraising event in memory of Rose.
Right from the start it has been their intention to use their fundraising activities as a way of sharing Rose and her beautiful smile with all who read about her.
Rose was an up and coming designer and was featured at the New Designers Exhibition in London in June 2006. Sadly, that same month the family was devastated when Rose was diagnosed with a Grade 4 malignant brain tumour. Following surgery to remove the tumour treatment was started straight away and on 26th October 2006 Rose graduated with honours from Liverpool Hope University. Just two weeks later Rose was admitted to hospital and sadly passed away on 11th November 2006.
As Andrew and Natalya navigate around the UK, bloggers across the world are coming together to help them share Rose’s story and her wonderful smile.
Please click on these words if you'd like to read more about the Britball event and the fundraising Andrew and Natalya are doing.

August 22 ~ Bud
It's been another busy, busy day today. Good day, but tiring. It's lovely to come home and just relax. Photography sure is a wonderful way for me to do just that. Today's photo is yet another cornflower; I so love these blooms!
I really liked the droplets on this, and thought I was taking a creative, beautiful macro shot. Chris then looked at it, laughed, and said he liked it as it looked like the bud had a face! He told me it made him think of Beaker from The Muppet Show. Now every time I look at the photo, I can't help but smile. LOL
For those of you unfamiliar with Beaker, have a look at this:
I have been nominated for an award, thanks to my lovely blog friend Ruth. Thank you!!
As it's been such a tiring day today, I haven't decided on my nominations yet; I'm going to sleep on it, and hopefully post mine tomorrow. Thinking of you all and sending you {{HUGS}}

August 18 ~ Refreshment
Photography can be thirsty work. Can't beat a cool, refreshing drink!
Finally, it's the weekend. Mine didn't start till almost 1pm today as I offered to cover a shift at another branch for a colleague who is on holiday. Makes me kind of glad in a way that the weather's been dull, grey and damp today. At least I wasn't missing any glorious outdoor photo ops!

August 12 ~ After the Rain
August 11 ~ Saturday Morning
YES! I'm back in business. Had a 4am start this morning; headed out to St. Mary's Lighthouse to meet some friends for a mini-meet. We were all there by 4:30am and were not disappointed; what a glorious sunrise! Thank you to A, B, S and K for a great morning. Here are a few other shots from the morning's shoot:
August 10 ~ Still Nothing
Not particularly impressed with the fact that this is the 3rd PAD photo I've missed this week, but figure that my health comes first. I'll just have to make sure to put things right from here on in!
August 9 ~ Nothing
Again, nothing from me today. It was a long, hard day at work, and by the time I got home around 7pm and we ate dinner, it was time for me to go to sleep.
August 8 ~ Summer Day
The knee was feeling a bit better today, so after I finished work Chris and I headed for the beach as it was a glorious evening. This was the only photo I came back with; the vivid pink of the bucket's handle is what caught my eye, and I could just imagine some upset child not wanting to leave the beach when parents beckoned. This is just the detritus of a long, langorous summer's day.
August 7 ~ Nothing
No Photo A Day for me on Tuesday this week. I spent the time after work tucked up in bed on Chris's orders. I had been helping an elderly lady in the bank to pick up some cards she had dropped; I slipped, and felt my knee go "pop". Ouch. Bedrest for me.

August 5 ~ Early Start
This morning was one of those times I just love being a photographer. I headed out at 4:20 this morning for St. Mary's Lighthouse; I haven't been there since the end of May as roadworks meant the route I would take was closed at the all-important "stupid-o'clock" time I needed to head there. It was a very promising start; some broken cloud in the sky and a lovely warm breeze. On arrival at the lighthouse I was greeted with a beautiful sky and - even better - not a single other soul present. It was just me, my cameras, and the landscape. Bliss! The only sounds I could hear were the sea birds calling to one another and the sound of the incoming tide. I haven't had such a peaceful photographic experience in quite some time, and I treasured every moment of it. I think the photograph above sums that feling up perfectly for me, as does this one:
Hope you're all well today and that you are enjoying the same beautiful weather we have here today - glorious! {{HUGS}} to you all.

August 4 ~ Crocosmia
Hello again! Yes, I've been here all along taking my daily photos - I've just not been as good about adding them to my blog as I should.
This is one of the blooms from our garden that I took a quick snap of this morning as I liked the vivid orange. Felt very sunshiny, which was apt as we have had a beautiful day here today. Here's hoping tomorrow is as nice - I would love to get out somewhere and take photographs!
Hope you're all well; you're always in my thoughts. {{HUGS}}
